Book 35- The Gray Wolf Throne, by Cinda Chima
35. The Gray Wolf Throne, by Cinda Chima. This series just gets better and better. Here, Raisa is on the run, back to her kingdom to claim her birthright, but there are many factions who want her younger and more malleable sister as queen. The two main protagonists face a lot of decisions, especially Raisa, who must juggle new responsibilities with her own wishes. Han, meanwhile, discovers that the young woman he knew as Rebecca is really the princess heir, and feels betrayed. But he has sworn to the clans to protect the young princess and the line so they form an uneasy alliance against a host of enemies-both known and unknown. There's action, mystery and a lot of intrigue. You also find out more about Margret, Raisa's nurse. I like the dynamic that plays out between her and Han. Cat also plays a bigger part. Readers also will find out more about Raisa's wolves- not a big surprise but interesting all the same. There also was a twist that I did not see coming involving Raisa's mother. I love the intrigue and politics; it's layered and subtle, with a lot of sides jockeying for the upper hand. The ending leaves off with a big mystery, which sets up the next book. Which I will be getting as soon as possible.
