A Thread of Grace

Mary Doria Russell

A Thread of Grace is a fictional account of the Italian resistance during WWII.

There are so many characters involved in this story that a list of characters is provided in the front of the book, but don't be intimidated. The characters sort themselves out very quickly, and each adds a facet, their own unique perspective to the story, and each has their own important story to tell.

I loved A Thread of Grace! Judging by A Thread of Grace and Dreamers of the Day, (another of her works), Russell seems to have a genius for historical fiction. A Thread of Grace seemed so well-researched, and was really well-written.

I highly recommend this book to WWII history buffs, or to anyone who appreciates good writing. It's an excellent read!
