Unlike the previous Phillip Marlowe books, I had never read this one before. I really, really enjoyed it. A strong story with interesting characters and Chandler did a good job of tying everything together at the very end. One thing I did notice is that Chandler seemed much more bitter in his writing in this one, like he'd lost faith in other humans. Fun read. 353 pages. Grade: A
