14. If You Follow Me Malena Watrous Watrous

Summary: Two American girls wind up in rural Japan to teach English to students. The book follows Marina's time living in Japan. She and her girlfriend, Carolyn, work at separate schools and live in a town where the people follow strict gomi (garbage) laws. The two both struggle with their time there and to follow these gomi laws. Then again, it is hard for the two in a young relationship to live together but work so far away.

Review: I got sucked into this book. It's not one of my favorites but I did enjoy it. It was something new to experience and it taught me some Japanese words and phrases. It also felt real, like someone could have really done all of this. It was inspiring I guess.
