Book 57 for 2010

Warriors of the Storm by Jack L. Chalker. 338 pages

Book three of the Rings of the Master series. The Master System has for centuries been obeying its directive to prevent the human race from destroying itself, but it has been doing so by keeping most of it in ignorance and barbarism. An unlikely band of rebels is attempting to wrest control from the all-powerful computer.

I have to say that at this point in the series I'm only continuing because I want to find out what happens - none of the characters have caught my sympathy particularly and even if they had, the mind and body altering tech that infuses these books means they probably wouldn't stay as they were for long anyway.
