#1: The Selfish Gene

Finished the first book of my 50 Book Challenge last night! It was The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins. I won't say a lot about it because it's pretty famous already, and given it's non-fiction, there isn't really that much to criticise. The writing style is pretty approachable, although I found it a little more taxing than The Blind Watchmaker, but really still very easily digestible. It's a book I've been reading in preparation for my dissertation, though, so it was somewhat rushed - I have a lot to do!

Definitely worth reading if you're interested in evolution - probably more specific to the ideas of altruism and kin selection than The Blind Watchmaker, which is a more general introduction to the topic.
