I didn't much care for the first half of this novel. It read a whole lot like a reasonably talented Patrick Kenzie fanfic writer (is there such a thing?) wanted to write a "15 years later" story about their favorite detective couple. But once the plot really got rolling and it became clear where the mystery part of the story was probably heading, I enjoyed this much more. A reasonably fun read overall. 324 pages. Grade: B
