Ok, so I think I might be the last person on this planet to read this book. My chiropractor kept telling me to read her. She said this series was her favourite series out there. I kept putting it off as I didn't think Gabaldon was my type of read and the size of the book turned me off.
But, after enough prodding by my chiropractor, I bought the first two books of the series and they sat on my shelf for months until I finally picked up "Outlander" and started to read.
At first I wasn't convinced. It took me a good 200-250 pages for me to really get into the story, but once I did, I couldn't put it down. I love the story, I love the characters (especially Jamie) and I cannot wait to read the second book. I'm going to buy the rest of the books on the Kindle because these books are thick and hard to hold!

Nothing will stop a wolf once he's found his mate . . . not even her own doubts.
The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon-when she innocently touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach-an "outlander"-in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord....1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life...and shatter her heart. For here, James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different ment in two irreconcilable lives.
