Book 43 for 2011

Trader to the Stars by Poul Anderson. 144 pages

Three stories about interstellar trader Nicholas van Rijn.

Classic science fiction, and as such much of it is decidedly un-PC these days, but if you can make allowances for the 1965 attitudes, the storytelling is pretty good.

Van Rijn isn't exactly a hero, his prime motive being profit, but he's no villain either and I rather like that he wins through brainpower and gets the girl by being amusing and kind, even though he's not what many would consider conventionally attractive.
