On tour after the completion of his European Theater trilogy, author Jeff Shaara received suggestions from veterans of the Pacific Theater to tell the damn tale.  Because of unspecified constraints in his agreements with publishers, he was limited to writing about events subsequent to V-E Day.  The result is The Final Storm, based on recollections of veterans of the invasion of Okinawa and the air base subsequently established on Tinian, progressing to the return of some of those veterans home on a brief leave that became an early discharge after the Japanese government received sufficient information, from above and from the USSR, that it was time to come to terms.  It's a shorter book than any in the European Theater trilogy, and Book Review No. 27 will be short accordingly, with interpretation of this post's title left to the reader as an exercise.
