Book 56 for 2012

The Ragwitch by Garth Nix. 396 pages.

When Julia finds a rag doll in a ball of feathers on the beach, she and her brother Paul are unwittingly dragged into a war in a another world…

Like everything I've read by Garth Nix this book is nicely constructed in both character , worldbuilding and plot and at times the tension was such that I had to put the book down for a bit and go and do something else before I could bear to read on. Which is daft, but shows how good the writing is, I think.
