Book 14 for 2013

Sorcery Rising by Jude Fisher. 502 pages

Pseudo-Arabic society in conflict with pseudo-Viking society with a background of magic returning to a world that was thought to be empty of it…

There are good and bad people on both sides, but the author's sympathy appears to be fairly firmly on the side of the pseudo-Vikings, in a way that made me vaguely uncomfortable.

I think I'll give the second book of the series a try though, if it crosses my path at some point.
