In the last few days, I had a couple of quick reads, and also finished a book I've been working on for a week or so.

First was Usagi Yojimbo Book #27: A Town Called Hell, a graphic novel by Stan Sakai. This continues a nearly thirty year series set in a fantastic Japan, peopled by animals acting as folks would in Medieval Japanese society. I've very much liked the saga consistently, and this book I'd recommend along with all the others.

Following that I finished Starfist Book IV: Blood Contact the next book in a series of military SF novels that had been recommended at a panel at the last WorldCon. It's got a gritty feeling of rightness about it; in this one, the platoon has a first contact situation with a hostile alien race. Pretty good read.

Then, this morning, Osprey Men-at-Arms #183: Modern African Wars (1): Rhodesia 1965 – 80, a piece of history about which I knew little; now I know more, as I usually find when I read these Ospreys.
