October Reads

94.       Palace Circle by Rebecca Dean
95.       The Knight of the Sacred Lake by Rosalind Miles
96.       The Child of the Holy Grail by Rosalind Miles
97.       The Art Forger by Barbara Shapiro There isn't much action in this story though there is plenty of detective work done by the main character Claire.  When she is asked to make a copy of a painting that was stolen from the Gardner museum in a famous heist she first hesitates and then agrees to it since she would get an art show from the Markel G Gallery in Boston.  During her work on the painting she discovers that the painting that she is copying from is also a forgery and she decides to find out what really happened to the original Degas painting.  The author describes the different techniques that she uses in order to copy the painting and you learn a little bit about Isabelle's Gardner's past who founded the museum through letters to her niece Amelia.  The ending is a little bit unexpected though.
