This morning I finished reading the first book of The Expanse series of novels and short stories, Leviathan Wakes, and my initial impression can be expressed in one word: "Whoa".

It's space opera. It's noir. It's technothriller. It's a holocaust novel. It's a political tome. It's amazing.

I'll have to scurry around and find the other books by this team of authors working under the nom de plume of James S. A. Corey; I can see it'll be worth it.

And to top it off, apparently the series of books has been picked up for production as a TV series. I wonder if they'll be able to make it just as amazing?
