When a young boy discovers the body of a woman beneath a thick sheet of ice in a South London park, detective Erika Foster is called in to lead the murder investigation. Yet when Erika begins to dig deeper, she starts to connect the dots between the murder and the killings of three prostitutes, all found strangled, hands bound and dumped in water around London. What dark secrets is the girl in the ice hiding? As Erika inches closer to uncovering the truth, the killer is closing in on Erika. - synopsis from author's website.

I was initially attracted to this novel by its striking cover and as it was offered at a low price elected to give it a try. I was quickly drawn into the story and while at first I felt that the characters were drawn from central casting - especially the troubled yet brilliant Erika - they were soon fleshed out and I became more and more engrossed to find out how they fared as well as how the murder was solved.

I did have a fairly good idea of whodunit though that did not spoil the unveiling. I certainly will be keeping an eye out for more adventures as this was a solid police procedural.
