Blurb: Welcome to New York City's Upper East Side, where my friends and I live and go to school. We're smart, we've inherited classic good looks, and we know how to party. It's a luxe life, but someone's got to live it.
S is back from boarding school, and if we aren't careful, she's going to win over our teachers, wear that dress we couldn't fit into, steal our boyfriends' hearts, and basically ruin our lives in a major way. I'll be watching closely...
Thoughts: I've been wanting to read this series for ages but it is notoriously difficult to find in the UK. I stumbled across the first few books in the series in a charity shop and jumped at the chance to read them.
I may be 26, but I still love a bit of teen fiction. I really enjoyed this book, the twists, the turns, the gossip! It reminded me a lot of school and university - it doesn't matter how rich you are, I think everyone remembers the nightmarish level of gossip and rumour from this time. The characters, despite being hugely flawed, are actually quite likeable. You really want to keep reading to see how things turn out and are a bit gutted with the (clever) cliff hanger ending.
The biggest question though - who is Gossip Girl???
