Book #5 - The Tenth Island: Finding Joy, Beauty, and Unexpected Love in the Azores by Diana Marcum

The author first visits the Azores as an extension of her research for a newspaper story about the community of Azorean immigrants who took up dairy farming in California’s Central Valley (the “tenth” of nine islands in the Azores). She returns later as her life changes and discovers more about the islands and herself. The author is a bit quirky, and the story sometimes circles back on itself, but overall I found it quite charming and compelling. I started this in late October returning from a road trip with my family, then I picked it up again and finally finished it 19 January. Fulfills Litsy Booked2019 reading challenge prompt: new-to-you author and Read Harder challenge prompt: written by a journalist.
