Book 32 - Summer at the Garden Café by Felicity Hayes-McCoy
This is the second book in the Finfarrin series I started earlier this year, and I enjoyed catching up again with the folks of Lissbeg. Once again, various failures to communicate lead to hurt feelings and worse, reaching back to the time of the Irish Civil War, which forms a somber undercurrent to the story of a community striving to serve a growing tourist market. Hanna has settled into her cottage and finds her great aunt’s old journal buried amongst a pile of stones, and the contents (eventually) help both her and her daughter bring closure to situation with her cheating ex-husband. Some side characters also get their moments in the sun. Read 11-14 June.
