Dead Dog Cat

#27, 28, 29

I've been busy with one thing or another, and haven't had time to post about books I've finished, so let me take a moment to do just that.

Since last I posted, I read Osprey Raid #23: The Revenge of the 47 Ronin: Edo 1703, which to some degree refutes at least a portion of the legendary Japanese assault. Apparently, much of the legend was due to the attack being made into a play, and so what everyone knows about it is based on what the equivalent of Hollywood tells everyone. Still, interesting book.

Next was The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey: A Graphic Novel of Jewish Wisdom and Wit in the Wild West. Talmudic wisdom in a form that probably would have delighted Yiddish novelists of the early 20th Century. Gentle humor. I liked this. There's a sequel or two; I'll be hunting them up, sooner or later.

Finally, The Backstage Guide to Casting Directors Second Edition: What They Look for in Actors, again by Hettie Lynne Hurtes. Similar to the previous book of hers that I read (Agents on Actors), this is a resource for folks who aim to make acting their business and life. Interesting and helpful read; I'd recommend it to my friends and acquaintances who want to take on that life.
